Corner shelves are a great addition to many closets, pantries, offices and anywhere else that needs to make the most of the space. They are built by creating an “L” shape using two fixed shelves that butt together in the corner. The entire unit shares three partitions: One on each of the sides, and one that is shared on the corner. The shelves are typically attached to each other using locking cams (VB’s).

In the elevation view, add a to-the-floor component and position it with the partition touching the wall where the two Design Zones overlap. This becomes the the dominant corner or component. Next, add fixed shelves the component -

Using the green arrows, navigate to the Design Zone on the adjacent wall. Notice the bridging component that already exists. This will be the non-dominant component.

Right click on the bridging (non-dominant) component and select Join Corner. This will automatically replicate the fixed shelf orientation on the original (dominant) component to match. This creates a corner component with connected shelves that will be visible in the adjacent view.

If using a bridging shelf that does not have any partitions(as seen in the example above, left), the side of the component will be open on the side; Manually add partitions in the Component Properties, or leave as is if placing additional components next to it. There will not be a missing partition warning!

If the user moves the individual shelves in the bridging component, or uses the + and – to adjust the number of shelves if using a multi-shelf group, the same changes will automatically apply to the dominant component. They are now synced up.

The corner shelf unit is still made up of two separate components, so users can adjust the widths<LINK> or depths<LINK> of the dominant or non-component sides as with standard components.

A wall mounted component does not automatically join the fixed shelves when prompted to Join Corner. To force a corner, simply grab and drag the “bottom” of the bridging component down to meet the bottom of the dominant component’s partition. Then right click and select Join Corner. If the partitions on the non-dominant and dominant components are the same length, the corner unit should be successful.

There are minimum and maximums for corner shelving units based on the weight rating for the shelving. This is to be considered for both the dominant and non-dominant side.
For instance, if the maximum is 30” x 30” at the user’s location, the dominant component can be 30” wide, but the non-dominant must be less than 30” when adding the width + the depth of the dominant wall component.

In this example, that means that if both sides are 14” deep, the non-dominant can be a maximum of 16” wide (16+14=30”).
CORNER SHELF PROPERTIES
To edit either side of the corner shelf, right click and select Properties [Comp]. As all components have the same property options <LINK>, the same options will apply to corner shelves, except that either side is controlled independently.
