Backing can be applied to components to cover damaged, ugly or unfinished walls, or just to make the system look more built-in.
To apply backing, navigate to Backing Panel in Properties [Component]. Check the box
...
to the right of Backing to turn it on.
...
This is also where users can edit the Style and Backing Panel Finish.
Backing will show up as very light hatch lines in the elevation view. It is clearly visible in the 3D view as well.

Users may notice a double par appear when adding backing. The Auto Depth feature will automatically bump the system out to maintain the inside depth as originally selected. Otherwise, adding backing will take away internal depth, which is not desirable.
The program may automatically double par when changing depths, including when adding backing with the Auto Depth feature. This can be turned off by unchecking the box next to Auto Partitions in the ELEV ribbon toolbar, although this is not advised.

Backing can be specified to only apply above a set of drawers
...
by checking the box beside the Start Above Drawers
...
option. This means it will not run backing behind
...
drawers, only above.

This image shows where backing stops in each component. This may be a preferred method as it is more budget friendly (uses less material) and the user would not normally see it anyways.
Info |
---|
This only applies if the stack of drawers starts from the bottom shelf - If they are floating drawers within a component, this feature will not recognize. The user could consider Split Backing in this situation. |
All changes made here can be applied either to the single component, selected components, the wall, or the whole room using the Apply properties to.. feature.
...
The second way to quickly add, remove or adjust backing is from the Materials tab. Select the finish and style settings under the Backing heading. This will apply to the entire room. If adding using this method, components will also auto-adjust the depth to accommodate, but double pars will not be a concern.
This method of applying backing can be done in any view.

There may be local rules based on requirements for backing with different components (base, wall mount, etc). Always check with your local plan rev |
