WINDOWS
Windows are another option in the Obstructions drop down menu. There may be multiple default sizes for windows in the drop down but they are the same window. Once the dimensions are adjusted using true measurements, either will work.
Windows have the same horizontal and vertical dimensions as the rest of the obstructions. The distance from the bottom of the window to the floor would be entered in the Bottom field.
Note |
---|
Unlike doors, the left/right offsets and bottom measurements only goes to the outside edge of the molding. |
Users can adjust windowsills under the Sill heading, including the left, right and front overhangs. If the window does not have a sill, turn it off by unchecking the box next to Enable. A top sill can be added in the same manner.
The user can add an image to the window. There are a variety of options, such as cityscapes or nature scenes, that may better represent what the client would experience. This will bring a sense of ownership to the space and is a fun way to add realism.

Windows may be easier to edit in the Elevation view, which requires a design zone in on the same wall. |
OPENINGS
The Opening obstruction can be used to add a walk-through entrance that does not have a door or molding, or to represent a pass through, create a low wall, or any other opening.
Openings are simple, and the vertical and horizontal dimensions should match measurements taken at the client’s home. The images below show a typical walk-through entry, and an example of a pony or knee wall.
