This page explains the steps to take for installing standard TFL connecting shelves that are not cut-to-fit. Prior to beginning the installation, ensure you completed all steps of installing the system skeleton.

1. Ensure the Rafix pins are in the partitions in the correct locations for the connecting shelves. This should be done while prepping the partition.

2. Locate the shelves in the staging area.

3. Double check with a tape measure that the shelf is the correct size.

4. Inspect the shelf for chips, damage, and missing or damaged Cams.

   1. Inspect the shelf prior to removing the sticker in case the shelf needs to be replaced due to damage.

5. Mark the shelf for cutting.

   1. Place the shelf in its spot above or below the connecting unit’s shelf.

   2. Make a pencil mark on the connecting shelf along the edge of the connecting unit to provide a cut line.

6. Cut the shelf using a Table saw.

   1. Ensure you have a clean straight cut along the cut line.

   2. The cleanest side should face the most visible area.  Understand which way your saw cuts the cleanest and mark the shelf according to that cut.

7. Dry fit the shelf for accuracy.

   1. If it is too small, use any extra material to recut the shelf to the correct size.

   2. If you do not have any extra material, call your manager right away to establish a solution.

8. Cam the shelf.

   1. Measure the Cam location on the side that still contains Cams.  Duplicate this measurement on the cut side.

   2. Use the cam jig and drill out the holes.

   3. Use a mallet and pound the Cams in an ensure the flat edge of the Cam is flush with the board edge.

9. Mark, drill, and insert Rafix pins on the section you are connecting to.

   1. Dry fit the board in place and make a mark where the center of the Cam is.

   2. Use an adjustable square to measure 3/8” up from the bottom, and mark across your center line.

   3. With a 3/16” bit, drill a hole 5/8” deep on the mark just made on the face of the shelf.

   4. Be careful not to make the hole larger than it should be.

   5. Clean any pencil marks and screw in Rafix pins.

10. Check the Cams and ensure they are in the open position.

    1. If the Cams are not in the open position, the Cam may be damaged when placing the shelf and become unusable.

11. Set the shelf on the Rafix screws and ensure the Cams are sitting on the each screw.

12. Tighten each Cam clockwise until they stop turning using a Pozi #2 bit screwdriver.

    1. Ensure the screwdriver is completely inserted in the Cam.

    2. Do not overtighten.

13. Check the shelf for tightness.

    1. Gently push upwards to make sure it is locked in place.

1. Inspect the installation and complete any touch ups if necessary.

2. If there are no more components to install, remove all stickers/labels.

3. If there are no more components to install, complete the clean up process.

4. If there are no more components to install, complete the Professional Installation Experience by walking through the space with the customer and deliveringthe final product.
