With any touch ups completed, ensure the final result is not visible to the naked eye, and blends properly with the material.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must beworn at all times when handling material and operating the power tools mentioned throughout this process. Review the PPE Matrix for further guidance.

  1. Identify areas of touch up.

  • Identify any scratches or markings made during the install.  For example, nail holes, screw holes, corners, scratches, etc.

  • If a piece of material is damaged or chipped in anyway that can not be easily touched up, report the piece to the shop/warehouse for replacement.

  • Depending on the depth or size of a scratch, the part will either need to be replaced or can be touched up.

    Touch up using wax crayon.

  • When you notice any scratches, use the wax crayon that is the appropriate color and fill in the hole or groove.

  • Make sure to go over the spot enough times so the amount of crayon is taller than the hole you are filling.

  • Use a scraper and gently rub it across the wax to remove excess.

  • Using a dry rag, wipe the excess wax off the board and smooth out the repair.

  • Using system cleaner, wipe down the full piece of material.

  • If you wipe the area and the wax is no longer flush with the material, repeat the process to fill the hole.

  1. Touch up trim work.

  • For all screw holes created during installation, they should be countersunk.

  • If the screw sits proud of the board, the fast cap will not sit correctly.

  • Place the fast cap over the screw to cover the hole.  If the material contains grain, ensure the fast cap grain is following the board.
