  1. Ensure the power accessory is working by plugging it into an outlet and, if possible, plug the appropriate cable into the accessory.

  2. Determine the location of the accessory as indicated by the elevation.

  • This will be indicated by a text note.

  • The default location unless otherwise noted: Maintain a minimum 1” distance from the edge of the hole to the back/side of the material.

    • This will allow for strength in the countertop; the closer you get to the edge, the weaker the edge becomes.

  • If the location is unclear, reach out to the design consultant for clarity.

  1. Determine the path for the cord. Refer to Run Your Cord for direction

  2. Confirm measurement of the accessory.

  • The default location unless otherwise noted: Maintain a minimum 1” distance from the edge of the hole to the back/side of the material.

  • Measure 1” (unless otherwise indicated from DC) + accessory center point from the back of the material. Make a mark.

    • For example, if installing a salt, measure 1” + 7/8” from the back.

  • Measure 1” (unless otherwise indicated from DC) + accessory center point from the side of the material Make a mark.

    • For example, if installing a salt, measure 1” + 7/8” from the side.

  • Extend markings to intersect

  • Double check measurements (measure twice, drill once) and confirm there are no obstructions (modesty panels, hardware, wrap panels, etc.) below the cut.

    • Pop-Up Power Station: Confirm there is enough clearance underneath the accessory; 12” is required.

For situations with a shelf immediately below the countertop: Cut back the shelf below by 4” if not already done so. Re-cam the shelf if applicable.

  1. Cut the hole for the accessory.

Expand

  • Place the center of the hole saw against the intersection of marks.

  • Complete the cut.

    • Use both hands to stead the tool.

    • Do not apply too much pressure as the tool builds speed; allow the saw to cut through the material naturally.

    • If both sides of the material will be visible, begin the cut from one side, and complete the cut from the other side using the drilled hole as a position guide. This will ensure a cleaner cut on both sides.

    • If only one side of the cut is visible, cut from one side.

For double-layer applications, clamp the materials together, cut through both layers using the hole saw. Once the hole has been cut, remove the top layer, and cut an extra inch around the bottom layer hole using a hole saw or jigsaw
    • .

  1. Dry fit the accessory.

  2. Vacuum all shavings on the material, under the material, and around the system.

  3. Install the accessory.

  • Put the cord through the hole first and set the grommet in the hole.

  • If Applicable: Pull the cord through the included locking nut and twist it on the bottom half of the grommet.

  • Run the cord along its path and plug the grommet into the wall outlet.

  1. Remove cut material from the hole saw.

  • Use a flat screwdriver and place it through various holes in the hole saw to pry the material off of the center drillbit.

  1. Pop-Up & Docking Power Stations: Demonstrate to the customer how to access the outlets.

Run Your Cord

  1. Ideally the wall outlet will be within the same vicinity as the accessory.

  2. Utilize grommets or notching as indicated by the plans. Plan the smallest path from the accessory to the closest wall outlet.

    1. You will need to notch the back of shelves or partitions to allow for the cord to pass through.

    2. Make any notches using a multi-tool or a hole saw.

    3. Make sure the notches are clean-cut and small enough to be discreet.

    4. Notches can be rectangular or rounded depending on the thickness of the cord.

    5. Notches must be large enough to allow for the cord to pass through unobstructed.

  3. If there is no possible path from the indicated location, contact the design consultant

  4. If Applicable: in concealed area, cut shelf down 2”.
