To set a task, go to a Opportunity and under Activity, click on New Task on the right-hand side. The Subject line can be filled out manually or you can also choose from any of the options that pop up when you click on it.

Next change the Due Date to display the date you want the task to be completed
Assigned To defaults to yourself, you can leave this alone
Write out any comments about why you are setting the task
Always check the box that says Send Reminder Email.
Save once complete
