The purpose of this page is to outline the process of installing the floating shelf provided by Schenk. The steps in this process have been vigorously tested and are mandatory to be followed for all floating shelf installations.

Installer Level Required: Jr. Apprentice Installer, Apprentice Installer, Journeyman Installer, Senior Installer, Master Installer

Installation Steps
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times when handling material and operating the power tools mentioned throughout this process. Review the PPE Matrix for further guidance.
Measure for 1/4” below the shelf height and mark a level line for the bracket height.
Follow bracket rules when determining attachment locations.
Locate the template placement.
If the mounting location includes drywall or a steel stud, proceed to step 5
Wood Stud Securement: Using a T30 Drive Bit, drive a structural screw into the lower indicator on the mounting template.
Drywall/Steel Stud Securement: Drill for a wall toggle using a 1/2” bit.
Drywall/Steel Stud Securement: Install the wall toggle.
Drywall/Steel Stud Securement: Install the Base Plate
Drywall/Steel Stud Securement: Slide the toggle bolt through the base plate and drywall plate, and thread into the toggle
Lower each Bracket Arm into each Base Plate and lock into place.
Level the brackets.
Install the shelf
Due to the interior depth allowance for the bracket arms, shelves cannot be scribed to the wall

Inspect the installation and complete any touch ups if necessary.
If there are no more components to install, remove all stickers/labels.
If there are no more components to install, complete the clean up process.
If there are no more components to install, complete the Professional Installation Experience by walking through the space with the customer and delivering the final product.
Certification Steps:
The bracket guidelines were followed.
The brackets are level with each other.
The shelf is attached to the brackets using the included self-tapping screws.
