The purpose of this page is to outline the process of installing the floating shelf provided by Schenk. The steps in this process have been vigorously tested and are mandatory to be followed for all floating shelf installations.

Installation Steps
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times when handling material and operating the power tools mentioned throughout this process. Review the PPE Matrix for further guidance.
Measure for 1/4” below the shelf height and mark a level line for the bracket height.
Follow bracket rules when determining attachment locations.
Use all supplied brackets
If a wall is steel studded, brackets must be mounted with toggles drilled into studs following the maximum bracket guidelines.
Attach to as many studs as possible.
At least one bracket must be mounted to a stud and no more than 2 brackets can be drywall-mounted per shelf.

Locate the template placement.
Draw a level horizontal line at the installation height (3a)
Find the stud center and draw a 1” vertical line (3b)
Align the template with the vertical line (3c)
If the mounting location includes drywall or a steel stud, proceed to step 5
Wood Stud Securement: Using a T30 Drive Bit, drive a structural screw into the lower indicator on the mounting template.
Pre-drill using 1/8” drill bit before driving structural screws into the wood stud
Leave approximately 1/4” between the head of the screw and the wall (4a)
Slide on the base plate and align with the template (4b)
Drive a 2nd structural screw through the top hole of the base plate (4c)
Drywall/Steel Stud Securement: Drill for a wall toggle using a 1/2” bit.
Drywall/Steel Stud Securement: Install the wall toggle.
Insert the wall toggle (6a)
Slide the plastic straps until they align with each other (6b)
Slide the plastic ring along the straps back and forth until they snap off, leaving the plastic ring in place (6d)
Ensure the provided black cap is located on the top side of the wall toggle.
When mounting to steel studs, wall toggles are to be used for all attachment points.
Drywall/Steel Stud Securement: Install the Base Plate
Thread adjustment bolt into the drywall plate (7a)
Slide the base plate over the adjustment bolt (7b)
Drywall/Steel Stud Securement: Slide the toggle bolt through the base plate and drywall plate, and thread into the toggle
Lower each Bracket Arm into each Base Plate and lock into place.
Level the brackets.
Place a 6” level on each bracket and adjust the angle with an impact and T30 Drive Bit (10a)
Place a 4' level across all brackets and level the brackets with each other (10b)
For shelves holding heavy objects, adjust the shelf bracket to have an initial upward tilt to compensate for shelf sag
Install the shelf
Place the shelf on the brackets (11a)
Measure 2” out from the wall and drill a hole to, but not through, the brackets using a 5/32” bit (11b, 11c)
Secure the shelf brackets using included self-tapping trip screws (11d)
The threads on these screws will automatically drill through the shelf bracket; do not pre-drill through the bracket for these screws.
Countersink the attachment screws to ensure they are not sitting proud of the shelf material.
Due to the interior depth allowance for the bracket arms, shelves cannot be scribed to the wall

Inspect the installation and complete any touch ups if necessary.
If there are no more components to install, remove all stickers/labels.
If there are no more components to install, complete the clean up process.
If there are no more components to install, complete the Professional Installation Experience by walking through the space with the customer and delivering the final product.
Certification Steps:
The bracket guidelines were followed.
The brackets are level with each other.
The shelf is attached to the brackets using the included self-tapping screws.
