Installation Steps

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times when handling material and operating the power tools mentioned throughout this process. Review the PPE Matrix for further guidance.

  1. Ensure the Rafix pins are in the partitions in the appropriate locations. This should be done while prepping the partition.

If shelves are being installed on either side of a shared partition, double-ended dowels may be used and inserted from left to right.

  1. Locate the shelves in the staging area.

  2. Double check the measurements on the BOM and the label to ensure the correct sizes are being placed in the correct location(s).

  • Ensure that each cam is aligned correctly and flush with the shelf surface.

  • Ensure that each inner cam is in the open position.

  • If either pieces are not in the correct position, reposition them using a Pozi #2 screwdriver.

  • If the Cams are not in the open position, the Cam may be damaged when placing the shelf and become unusable.

  1. Set the shelf on the Rafix screws and ensure the Cams are sitting on each screw.

Keep fixed shelves right side up.  As these shelves are load bearing, it is important they are installed with the Cam side facing the bottom of the system.

  1. Tighten each Cam clockwise until they stop turning using a Pozi #2 bit screwdriver.

  • Do not overtighten or use a drill to tighten as this will run the risk of damaging the cam.

  • Ensure the screwdriver is completely inserted in the Cam.

When installing bottom fixed shelves, place the shelf on the Rafix pins, and lift the front of the shelf up to tighten the back Cams with a small angled ratchet.  Place the front of the shelf down and use the small ratchet to lock in the front Cams.

  1. Check the shelf for tightness. Gently push upwards to make sure it is locked in place.

  2. Repeat for all remaining shelves, as indicated by an X on the elevation.
