This page will explain the key information to review prior to beginning an installation. Before installing components, it is important to be aware of the space, any obstacles on the jobsite, and any specific design requirements for the system. Prior to reviewing system elevations, ensure you have performed the initial walkaround with the customer, and completed the hazard inspection process.

The examples provided on this page are for reference purposes only. Elevation indicators and notes may vary based on location.

Off-the-Floor Systems

  1. Confirm wall and ceiling measurements; the design zone length and height.

 

  1. Confirm the high point in the room.

  2. Confirm the height of the rail.

 

  1. Assess for any obstacles in the room, such as electric access panels, or water access panels.

  2. Assess for outlets and vents.

  • Confirm measurements to ensure a vent or plug is not being covered.

  • To ensure a vent or plug is not being covered, notch the partitions around the vent, or cut out a section of the backing panel and use a grommet.

  1. Assess for furniture and appliances.

  • Furniture and appliances must either be removed, or the customer is to sign-off with approval to install with furniture and appliances in the space.

  1. Check for any special notes on the elevation.

 

  1. Confirm drawers, their depths, and the number needed. Ensure you know the number of runners and handles you require.

  1. Confirm lighting, if any, included in the job. Confirm where the outlets are located in relation to where the lighting is located on the system.

  1. Confirm the placement of any cleats or support elements.

 

Floor-Based Systems

  1. Confirm wall and ceiling measurements; the design zone length and height.

  1. Confirm the high point in the room.

  2. Confirm the height of the rail.

  1. Assess for outlets and vents.

  2. Confirm measurements to ensure a vent or plug is not being covered.

  3. To ensure a vent or plug is not being covered, notch the partitions around the vent, or cut out a section of the backing panel and use a grommet.

  4. Assess for furniture and appliances.

  1. Check for any special notes on the elevation.

  1. Confirm if the baseboard will be cut out or notched around.  If this is not indicated on the plans, call the design consultant to confirm.

  1. Confirm the spacing and placement of any islands, if applicable.

  1. Confirm drawers, their depths, and the number needed.  Ensure you know the number of runners and handles you require.

  1. Confirm if there are any toe kicks or vented toe kicks.

  1. Confirm lighting, if any, included in the job.  Confirm where the outlets are located in relation to where the lighting is located on the system, and that the correct switch is included in the parts.

 

Virtuoso Systems

  1. Confirm the high point in the room.

  2. Confirm the height of the system.

  1. Assess for any obstacles in the room, such as electric access panels or water access panels.

  2. Assess for outlets and vents.

  1. Assess for furniture and appliances.

  1. Check for any special notes on the elevation.

  1. Confirm if the baseboard will be cut out.  If this is not indicated on the plans, call the design consultant to confirm.

  1. Confirm lighting, if any, included in the job.  Confirm where the outlets are located in relation to where the lighting is located on the system.

  1. Confirm the location of poles and accessories being installed.

  • The Hazard Inspection Procedure must be completed.

    • Design & Physical Space Measurements

    • Obstacles in the room

    • Outlets and vents

    • Furniture and appliances in the space

    • Special notes in the plans

    • Drawers, depths, runners, and handles/knobs

    • Lighting

    • Support elements

Design Zone Height

The top shelf height that components, or, sections
of the closet system, are to be mounted or installed at.

Design Zone Width

The Design Zone Width shows the width of the design zone. You can also
consider this to be the buildable space.

Elevation

The CAD Design Plan created by the Design Consultant with the client.
