Regions determine coverage across a branch. A zip/postal code is assigned to a single region and when a lead is entered in Salesforce, it is routed to the correct region. Designers are assigned to regions based on geography, willingness and ability to service said zip/postal code (especially in remote considerations), and needed coverage. The local branch determines designer region assignments in conjunction with the designer and their sales manager.

Step by Step

  1. To change a designer’s assigned regions, navigate to their service resource page. Find the Service Territories Tab and select

New in the upper right of the section.

  1.  A new tab will open where you can populate the required information. Click

Save when done.

a. Service Territory – manually enter the name of the territory to search for the territory you want to add.
b. Territory Type – mark only one as primary, others as secondary (there can only be one primary region)
c. REMOVE country for secondary assignments – leave as --None--
d. ADD designer operating hours – may need press enter/search for results to show
e. Fill in duration at bottom – add END date for expiration if necessary (a three-day window minimum is ideal, so appointment times are available).

  • If necessary, a designer can also have different operating hours per region. They have virtual hours for virtual only regions. Or they may be willing to take early or late appointments in regions that are geographically close to their house. Whatever the use case may be, the setup is simple.

    • In the below example, the designer has two operating hour records and each one is assigned to a different region.

  • When the designer is viewed in the Gantt Calendar in Field Service Lightning, you'll see the different operating hour slots by region. Thus, it's easy to identify the designer availability by region even with different hours for each.

  • Once appointments have been booked, they'll appear on the Gantt Calendar.

  • Appointments that are booked outside of the designer's primary region may have a rule violation notice indicating the appointment was booked outside of the designer's normal operating hours. This can be ignored and won't effect the designer being able to service the appointment.
