Desks or vanities are base cabinets without anything under them, parts or bottom treatments – Essentially a completely open component. It is a spot for clients to have a stool or chair underneath in order to utilize the base cabinet as a desk or a vanity, for example.

When placing components, leave an opening between two base components with countertops. In the component properties under the Countertop heading, select Extend Left or Extend Right to stretch the countertop across an opening. This will extend the countertop until it reaches the component on the other side.

...

Users may also have an “empty” component in their corporate Office template library that they can simply place in the opening if it is under 36” wide. This allows for the addition of parts, if desired, because technically it is another component filling the space. This method will bring in a fixed shelf under the countertop.

Info

Users may choose to add partsor a modesty panel to the opening under the countertop.

If extending a countertop against a wall or taller component, users may need to add a support cleat(not shown in CAD) or a support leg. The “leg” is a board, like a partition, but it helps hold and support the weight of the countertop when there isn’t another component (due to space or design).

...

To add a support leg, users must first have a left/right extension on the countertop. Once Extend is enabled, check the box on the right of Leg. Select the leg material (can match components or countertop material) as well as the side and/or front offset (how far the leg sits from the wall or from the front of the countertop).

...

Once a leg is added, the user can change the leg material, side and front offsets in the fields that appear.

...

Setting the corner to Wall will designate that countertop as the dominant wall, and users should see it extend into the corner. Join does the opposite, as it will designate the counter to extend only to meet the dominant counter.

Selecting Auto will choose which countertop extends into the corner based on which component is closer to the corner (this is the default).
