This page explains the steps to take for installing a glass countertop. The process steps below will outline the process for a standard glass (clear, illusion, backpainted) countertop on a component, and an applied (layered) glass countertop on a standard TFL countertop. Prior to beginning the installation, ensure you completed all steps of installing the system skeleton and all elements below the countertop.

Glass Countertop Installation

Applied (Layered) Glass Countertop Installation

  1. Ensure the component and or countertop below the glass countertop have been installed.

  2. Dry fit the glass countertop and ensure it is the same size as the TFL countertop on the componentcomponent or countertop below. If it is not, reach out to your manager.

  3. Place a VHB tape circle in each corner of the TFL countertopmaterial below.

  • If the top is larger than 24” in either direction, place a VHB circle every 24 - 30” around the perimeter.

  1. Using glass cleaner, wipe down the bottom of the glass countertop.

  2. Peel the protective coating off each VHB circle.

  3. Place the glass countertop on top of the component or TFL countertop.

  • Depending on the size and weight of the countertop, a second team member may be required to assist. A team lift is required if the glass countertop is larger than 36” in width or length, or if it is heavier than 48lbs.

  • Ensure the countertop is in the desired location before setting it down on the VHB tape.

  1. Apply pressure in each tape location to ensure the glass countertop is adhered.

  2. Wipe the top of the glass countertop with glass cleaner.

  1. Inspect the installation and complete any touch ups if necessary.

  2. If there are no more components to install, remove all stickers/labels.

  3. If there are no more components to install, complete the clean up process.

  4. If there are no more components to install, complete the Professional Installation Experience by walking through the space with the customer and deliveringthe final product.

Certification Steps:

  1. VHB tape circles are placed in every corner and, if applicable, every 24 - 30” around the perimeter of the TFL countertop.

  2. The glass is wiped down before and after it is placed in position.

  3. If applicable: Assistance in lifting and placing was provided.
