This page will explain how to find the high point prior to beginning an installation. There are two ways to find the high point: using a level, or using a laser level. Finding the high point is important prior to beginning an installation because the full system will need to be plumb and level according to the highest point in the space. Prior to finding the high point, ensure you have performed the initial walkaround with the customer, completed the Hazard Inspection Procedure, and reviewed the system’s elevations and measurements.

Start from the corner of the system, and slide it across the floor to identify high spots in the floor. The high point(s) will be where the level does not sit flat on the floorlevel on the floor.
There might be multiple uneven areas of the floor, it is important to identify the highest area of the floor to base the rail height off of.
Repeat at the wall and at the front depth of the system.
Using a Laser Level
Set the laser in the center of the room.
Walk around the room and measure from the floor to the laser line, and identify the shortest measurement from the floor to the laser line.
