The following relates to Desks & Vanities.

If wanting to add a slide-out shelf or small drawer in this open space below a countertop there needs to be a component in place first. Users cannot add any parts without a component there. In this case, users need to create an empty or open component.

There may be a few templates in the Office template library that you can use (empty, keyboard tray, drawer), which is the quickest and easiest method to add parts in this situation. However, it’s important to understand an alternative method if ever needed!

Start by adding a base component, and then a second, with a gap between. Users can make a dynamic copy one of the existing base cabinet to place in the middle as it will come in at the appropriate depth and height. It will also share partitions, eliminating the need to many manually remove them (as users would if adding an empty comp to the space). Remove any/all unneeded parts. <LINK>

Users will then need to remove the bottom shelf and kickplate by going to the Construction heading in Properties [Component] and unchecking the box to the right of Bottom Shelf.

Users will be left with what looks like an empty component, but there will be a green dashed ‘X’ when hovering over, which is indicative of a component being there - This allows the addition of parts.

Users can then add desired parts to the empty component, such as small drawers for pencils or small office accessories, or a pull-out shelf for a keyboard. Ensure there is enough leg space (height, as well as width) for the client to pull a chair underneath.
