There are floor and ceiling obstructions in the Obstruction pull-down menu, but they don’t behave the same way as other obstructions. This may include options for floor vents, sprinklers, skylights, ceiling fan or lights, attic access, etc. Specific options may vary depending on the user’s database.
They are all added in the Plan view. Start by selecting one of the obstructions and, rather than placing them on a section of a wall, place it inside the room.
These obstructions will not show in the Elevation, but do show in Plan and 3D views. It is important for users to double check these views to ensure components are clearing these obstructions.
The obstructions will be represented by a blue dashed outline. Move them by hovering over them, and left clicking and holding while they are red. Release the mouse button when in the desired location. Deleted by right clicking and selecting Delete.
These obstructions don’t have offsets to help place them within the walls. To properly place these obstructions, you can use the Dimension Line tool from the ribbon toolbar.
These obstructions will in with default sizing, but the dimensions can be changed in Properties [Room Object] after it has been added. This provides fields to change the length, width and thickness.
Users can change the object’s rotation if needed, and if the box next to Label is checked it will show a title (ie. Floor Vent) by the obstruction in the Plan view.
