The purpose of this page is to provide a comprehensive checklist for the full installation of a soft motion wall bed and a soft motion wall bed + desk.

Prior to site-visits, make sure you have: 

  1. Read through Soft Motion Wall Bed Installation Manual 

  2. Watch all Wall Bed Installation Videos on CC360 share 

  3. Read and understand the Wall Bed inspection checklist 

Make sure to have the following items with you for each site visit inspection: 

  1. Printed copy of the Soft Motion Wall Bed Installation Manual 

  2. Required tools (Page 2) 

  3. Non-supplier hardware (Page 3) 

  4. (5) 1x1 angle brackets 

  5. (1) New piece of rail and cover 

  6. (1) Top Stretcher 

  7. (1) Bottom Stretcher 

  8. (1) New Toe Kick 

  9. Additional hardware kits 

  10. Leg kits 

  11. Full bed kit 

Be sure to take pictures of: (before and after if altered) – uploaded to Dash 

  1. Legs (both sides of bed) 

  2. Mounting Plate (Both Sides) 

  3. Overall picture of the unit (closed) 

  4. Overall picture of the unit (open) 

  5. Close up of top shelf with angle brackets 

  6. Close up of Top Stretcher with Screw Caps visible 

  7. Close up of Bottom Stretcher with Screw Caps and Angle Brackets visible 

  8. Close up of toe kick with Angle Brackets visible 

  9. Close up of lock engagement on both partitions (only Desk/Shelf version) 

  10. Lighting (drivers/distribution boxes) 

  11. Safety stickers attached to system 

 

NOTE: If any of the following are compromised, missing, or removed, the pistons should be removed until corrections or inspection is completed:

Angle Brackets 

Top Stretcher 

Bottom Stretcher 

Toe Kick 

Inspect vendor supplied components  

  • Partition mounting plate 

  • Bending or twisting (welded pin or mounting plate) 

  • Bed Frame 

  • Welded pin on bed frame (both sides) 

  • Ensure square 

Rail / Partition 

  • Check that the rail has not deformed or pulled away from the mounting surface / wall. 

  • Check that the Suspension Bracket attachment screws are tight and not stripped (Page 4, Step 1). 

  • Check that the suspension brackets are tight both up/down and in/out 

  • Check that the partition is properly supported by the floor (using shims, par feet, etc.)  

Cabinet Assembly 

  • Partition mounting plate attachment to Partition 

    • Remove the Mechanism Cover to perform the following checks. 

    • Check that there are no open holes on the mounting plate (all attachment screws present). 

    • Check that all mounting plate attachment screws are tight and not stripped (Page 5, Step 3). 

    • Partition mounting plate should be tight to the partition (no gap) 

  • Inspect top stretcher attachment 

    • Secure to the wall and not pulling away from the wall 

  • Check that the cabinet has been leveled and plumbed. (Page 20, Step 1) 

Top Shelf 

  • Check that the cams are locked and the rafix bolts have not pulled out of the partition (Page 6, Step 2). 

  • Be sure that the angle brackets have been properly installed on the top of the top shelf into as many studs as possible (Page 21, Step 7). 

Bottom Stretcher 

  • Check that the bottom stretcher is tight against the wall or baseboard (Page 6, Step 3). 

  • Check that the bottom stretcher is attached to the partition using angle brackets (Page 6, Step 3). 

  • Be sure that the bottom stretcher is attached to as many studs as possible using screws specified in the Installation Instructions (Page 8, Step 9) & (Page 20, Step 3). 

Headboard 

  • The stiffener has been installed on the headboard (Page 5, Step 5) 

  • Check that the cams on the headboard have been locked and the rafix bolts have not pulled out of the partition (Page 7, Steps 5&6). Do not use Press-In Cams. 

Toe Kick 

  • Check that the toe kick is installed properly (attached to the partitions using angle brackets) (Page 7, Step 7). 

Bed Frame Assembly 

  • Check that there are no open holes on bed frame based on type of door being used (all attachment screws present). 

  • Check that all bed frame attachment screws are tight and not stripped (Page 10, Step 6a). – use Allen wrench or screwdriver, not impact driver 

  • Bed frame should be tight to the bed panels and squared to ensure the gap is equal to both partitions. 

  • If the configuration has unsupported seams, check that mending plates have been used for support (Pages 12-15). 

  • Check that the Steel Leg Spacer attachment screw is tight and not stripped (Page 16, Step 2). 

  • Check that the Metal Washer has been used on the inside of the bed frame (Page 17, Step 4). 

  • Check that the Plastic Washer is positioned between the Frame Mechanism and the Leg (Page 17, Step 5). 

  • Check that the magnets are positioned correctly and are tight, but not stripped (Page 19, Step 5). 

Bed Frame Attachment to the Cabinet 

  • Check that the Sleeve Bearings have been used on the Frame Dowel and is properly seated in the U-Channel (Page 16, Step 1). Be cautious not to crack sleeve bearings; if cracked, do not use (get a new one) 

  • Check that the piston has been installed in the correct orientation (Page 17&18, Steps 1&2). – Ensure the correct size pistons have been used for the mattress (find chart) 

  • Check that the piston mounts are properly seated on the welded pins (Page 17&18, Steps 1&2). 

  • Check that the Top Steel Stretcher Screws are tight and not stripped (Page 18, Step 3). 

  • Check that the Magnets are properly contacting the Top Steel Stretcher when closing the bed (Page 19, Step 5). 

  • When opening and closing bed make sure motion is not restricted 

Leg adjustment 

  • Be sure both feet on each leg are touching the floor. If not, adjust the Cam Washer accordingly (Page 19, Step 5). 

  • Check all attachment screws for the Leg Mechanism are tight and not stripped (Page 19, Step 5). 

Top Stretcher 

  • Check that the top stretcher is tight against the wall (Page 20, Step 4). 

  • Check that the top stretcher is tight to the top shelf and is tight and square to both partitions (Page 20, Step 4). 

  • Check that the top stretcher is attached to as many studs as possible using screws specified in the Installation Instructions (Page 20, Step 4). 

Lock 

  • For units with a desk and/or shelf. Ensure that the lock fully engages on both partitions and moves easily into locked position. Ensure no bending of locking bar. 

Mattress Installation 

  • Check that the Mattress Hard Stops are installed properly (Page 20, Step 5). 

  • Check that the Mattress is secured down using straps connected to the frame (Page 21, Step 13).  

Finishing Touches 

  • Test pull down/push up mechanism of system 

  • Re-install pistons (if they were removed). 

  • Re-attach the Mechanism Cover using all mounting screws. Ensure screws are tight and not stripped (Page 21, Step 6). 

  • Re-install Top Steel Stretcher (if removed).
