Often when room base molding is torn out for an installation, that portion of the wall is visible above the bottom shelf of a component. This is often messy or unfinished and not very nice to look at.

A Base Cleat is a selectable 3/4” piece of TFL board material in the desired finish selection, used to cover the tear out when backing is not used in the system.

When the room molding is selected as “Rip-Out” in Wall Properties, the height of the molding is represented by a dashed line in Elevation view.

This gives the user an idea of how tall the base cleat would need to be to cover where the molding used to be.

Base cleats are turned on/off from the Base Cleat drop down in Component Properties, under the Construction heading.

Once turned on, it defaults to 2.52” tall but users can override by typing a new number in the Height field. The Finish can also be selected here.

It is recommended to have it sit slightly higher than the original molding to ensure it’s completely covered. A minimum of ½" is recommended, some users prefer 1”.

To apply the base cleat to other components, check the box to the left of the Base Cleat field and apply to select/wall/room.
