Confluence Tips & Tricks

This page shows tips for navigating the ClosetCadPro Manual and it’s host site, Confluence.

  • Confluence is made up of Spaces and Pages

    • Spaces are a collection of related Pages, think of a filing cabinet.

    • Navigate using the “Table of Contents” on side bar.

    • Use the > to see more content linked in that page tree.

  • Click on any image or animation (GIFs) to make them larger and easier to see, like a zoom feature. GIFs continuously play in a loop.

  • Hyperlinks will be blue and underlined, and will directly link users to related pages, like in the example below. To open links in a new tab, hold ctrl + click.

  • Terms & Definitions will be blue and bolded, and will directly link users to the glossary at the bottom of the page. This will provide you with a definition for the term.

  • Advanced search tool to help find certain topics.

  • Users can combine exact matches (use quotations on either side of words), operators (or, and, not or a group), and wildcards (using ? or * to replace characters in search) in one search query. For example, you can search “manag* AND post?” and ("article" OR "post").

    • Other example of wildcard search:

      • For example, a search of b?g will show pages that have any of the following words: big, bug, bag, beg, or bog.

      • A search of manag* will show pages that have words such as: manage, manager, management, managing, managerial, etc.

  • Users can Star or Watch pages. This feature requires a log-in to access.

The star icon refers to Save for later. Starring a page for later helps users access them quickly from a desktop or mobile device.

Users can access starred pages by selecting Home in the main toolbar. There will be the option to view starred pages.

Users can watch a Confluence page, blog post or space. Confluence will then send you a notification email whenever anyone updates the watched content.

Users will receive immediate email notifications for:

  • Page / blog post edits (unless the author clears the 'Notify watchers' check box).

  • Deletions.

  • Attachments, including new versions or deletions of an existing attachment.

  • Comments, including new comments or deletions of existing comments.

More information HERE.

  • Users can share links to pages to other users via e-mail, slack, etc. This feature requires a log-in to access.
