A “box in box” design is a box that made of TFL material that sits inside a component. They are typically made from a different finish for contrast, and can be offset back to create a change in depths.

To build a box in a box, start with an empty component and add fixed shelves and/or upright shelves where desired.

Note

Users will receive a warning if the box interferes with the suspension rail or if the height is too tall to be supported. The second issue can be avoided by adjusting the shelf spacing so it is shorter.

Boxes move and delete like other parts.

Users can add additional parts such as backing, shelves, uprights, doors and lighting to the box if desired. Below shows the elevation and 3D views of a design with a variety of finishes, depths, panels, and parts.

DIMENSIONS:The box defaults to sit back from the front of the pars/shelves. Users have the ability to make them shallower or deeper, or even to extend forward and overhang if desired(add a negative number to Offset Front). The Offset Back would have the box sit forward off the wall, in case of backing or interference with the suspension rail/brackets (typically ~4” is needed to clear the suspension rail, but refer to a plan reviewer for specific information).

BACKING PANEL: Check the box to the right of backing panel to add system backing to the box-in-box. This field offers TFL board selections. Decorative panels can also be added to the box using the Panel tool, but they may be trickier to edit. If using this method, add panels before adding additional parts in the box.

MISC: Select the main finish Material of the box, which will apply to the top, bottom and sides. The Drilling patterncan be changed, this affects the holes on the uprights of the box.
