Edit Parts

The following tips are general editing options that will be consistent for editing most of the parts found in the ELV ribbon toolbar.

  • After adding a part, the part tool will remain on until the user right clicks to turn the function off.

  • If parts have multiple options or sizes available, scroll while the tool is turned on to view the options before placing.

  • Most parts move and delete the same way, as described below.

  • It is highly recommended that users turn the 32mm holes on to get a better understanding of how and where parts are placed within a component. Do this in the Display section of the ribbon toolbar (while in ELV view) and check the box next to 32mm Holes. Can be turned off (uncheck box) before presenting to a customer to limit confusion.

PART PROPERTIES

The Properties [Part] box holds all the information for a specific part. It allows users to make changes specific to that part, such as size, face style, finish, etc. All parts have a property box. Every part’s property box will look different as it is geared towards that part specifically.

Users can use the Apply Properties To.. options to quickly apply a change to other parts. Each part page will explain this in more detail.

MOVE PARTS

Parts can be moved within the same component or into a different component. This works for most parts. If parts have specific rules, they will be outlined on the part page.

  1. Right click > Move.

  2. Double click and holding the cursor down to “drag” it to a new location.

DELETE PARTS

  1. Delete a single part by right clicking and selecting Delete.

  2. Multiple parts can be deleted at once by selecting Shift and clicking on multiple parts to select. Right click to delete or hit Delete on the keyboard. To deselect, click elsewhere on the elevation view or hit Esc on the keyboard.

CLONE PARTS

Cloning a part will make an exact copy that can be pasted into the same or other component. It makes it easy to recreate a part that may have been edited so that extra time isn’t spent editing them individually. It also makes it quick to turn a part back “on”, versus going back up to the Parts menu in the ribbon toolbar. Most parts can be cloned, but there are some that won’t offer this feature and the feature will be greyed out.

To clone a part, right click on it and select Clone Part. Left click to insert the cloned part where desired. The feature will allow the user to continue placing that same part until right clicking to turn it off.

If the part being cloned offers multiple sizes or styles, once clone has been selected, scroll the mouse wheel to see the different options to chose from.
