Panels, often referred to as applied panels, can be used to add a decorative or accent panel to a specific area in (or between) a component. They are not structural like system backing as they are not routed into the shelves or pars, but rather fit exactly into the space given.

This means that users must exercise caution when adding any panels to a design, and may need to have a conversation with a plan reviewer regarding how it will be properly installed.

They are referred to as an applied panel because they are usually glued or drilled into the wall, or into existing full system backing. The panel tool can be used to create pops of color within a component that will stand out against the rest of the backing, or to highlight a specific focal point.

Select Panel from the Other drop-down and left click to place into a component, or between components. It will automatically adjust to fit inside of a boundary created by a fixed shelf, upright shelf, partition, or other parts.

If placing a panel into a multi-shelf group, it must be exploded first.

If the cursor is further to the left of the panel when adding, the panel will sit at the back of the component. If the cursor is more towards the right, it will sit at the front of the component.

Double click and hold to move the panel. It will automatically adjust if put into a space that is of a different size. Panels delete like other parts.

The current version of the panel tool does not recognize suspension rails (this may even be visible in 3D depending on the material thickness), which means this could cause trouble when being installed. There are a few ways you can bypass this issue, either by changing the back offset (see below), by adding a faceplate, or by discussing a solution with your design manager or plan viewer.

PANEL PROPERTIES

Users can make adjustments to the panel in the Properties [Part].

Users can reference the dimensions, but as panels automatically fill the space, they cannot be edited here.

The Front/Back Offsets can be adjusted if the user prefers the panel to be set forward from the back of the design, or vice versa, for any reason - Just remember that there will need to be a method of installation considered.

The Finish can be selected. The user may see a variety of options including coordinated board material, EcoResin, glass, mirrors, and more. Rotate Grain will change the direction of the pattern or grain.
