Complete Setup Guide
The Connect Mesh network is a cohesive system of smart devices (such as light controllers, wall switches, remote controls) that is built on top of the Bluetooth Low Energy Mesh (BLE Mesh) standard. This is a wireless communication network that allows for included devices to communication with each other. The more BLE Mesh devices deployed in the network, the bigger the range of the network and its robustness becomes.
Downloading & Starting the App
Ensure you are using the device provided for the job prior to setting up the Connect Mesh App.
Android Devices:
Download the current version of the Hafele Mesh Connect App from the Google Play store. Go to the Play Store App and search for ‘Hafele Connect Mesh’.
Once the download is complete, start the App by pressing the App icon on your home screen or App drawer.
iOS Devices:
Download the current version of the Hafele Mesh Connect App from the Apple App store. Go to the Apple Store App and search for ‘Hafele Connect Mesh’.
Once the download is complete, start the App by pressing the App icon on your home screen.
Create Network
Create a new mesh network to be able to add devices.
Name the network. This should be the name of the client or job.
Define the locations utilizing the network; Living Room, Closets, Pantry, etc.
Add Devices
Add/Configure the Mesh Distribution Box to the network.
If the mesh box has not yet been updated to the 2.0 firmware, the app will complete an update during the pairing process.
Name the device.
Identify the ports being used on the distribution box in the app.
Set Up Groups
Switches can be used to control rooms or groups. Groups provide additional freedom in allowing certain lights to function differently from other lights. Groups are most beneficial when using multi-button switches.
Navigate to the groups overview screen.
Tap on the + icon to add a new group.
Give the new group a name and location.
Select an applicable symbol for the group.
Add lights to the group.
Setup a Wireless Wall Switch
If applicable, (see table below), install battery into switch.
Navigate to the “Devices” tab and press the + icon. All available devices in programming mode will appear in the list on the following page.
Press the + Icon next to the device you would like to add to start the programming process.
Once programming has completed, assign the buttons to group(s) in the network.
Navigate to the device’s detailed view in order to locate where every button can be configured.
Test functionality of the switch.
If the switch will be controlling multiple groups, do not select “Easy Configuration” if prompted.
If the switch is an EnOcean switch (Single or Double Rocker), 1 port must be left available on the Distribution Box.
Setup a Mesh Remote
Navigate to the “Devices” tab and press the + icon.
All available devices in programming mode will appear in the list on the following page.
Press the + icon next to the remote to add and start the programming process.
After you have added and programmed the remote, assign the different channels to groups in the network. The remote control is intended to control groups in a network. Up to 6 individual groups can be controlled using one remote control.
Navigate to the device overview and tap on the remote control. This opens the device’s detailed view where every button can be configured.
Add & Set Up Scenes
In a scene, the state of all participating devices is saved and can be retrieved at any time. Scenes are most applicable with Mesh Remotes to change the temperature of brightness of a light grouping.
Select the switch device on the Devices page.
Select the group to add scenes for.
Select Scene A and use the sliders or text boxes to select the appropriate brightness and temperature (applicable for tunable white) and save the scene.
Repeat Step 3 for Scenes B and C.
If scenes are requested but not specified by the designer, use the following figure to program 3 scenes for the remote/switch.
Scene | Light | Brightness | Temperature |
A | Monochrome | 100% | N/A |
B | Monochrome | 75% | N/A |
C | Monochrome | 60% | N/A |
A | Tunable White | 100% | 3000K (Warm) |
B | Tunable White | 80% | 3500K (Neutral) |
C | Tunable White | 80% | 4000K (Cool) |
Export & Share the Network
Sharing of networks should occur when transferring a network to a centralized device following installation, or to the customer directly.
Only one smartphone or tablet can connect to a Connect Mesh Box at a time.
On Android Devices
Select “Finish Installation” followed by “Share”
Choose between options “scan network code” or “import connect file”
Files need to be stored on the device or on a cloud service
On iOS Devices
Select “Finish Installation” followed by “Share”
Then you will find a list of options available for sharing “network”
The available sharing possibilities are Email, WhatsApp, Messenger, and so on.
The configuration File used for setup should be uploaded to DASH under the Job Number upon completion of the installation.
