Virtuoso

Virtuoso

Virtuoso is a cantilevered shelving system that uses slotted brackets to hang on a vertical foundational piece. The foundational supports are covered with vertical backing, and shelving is added in front of the backing pieces. The shelving material is only available in thicker 1.125”+ materials and the system is available in three standard depths.

Classic parts can be added to a Virtuoso system but are handled slightly differently, most notably with doors and drawers, as they are always inset. Many Classic accessories are not compatible with Virtuoso due to the horizontal nature of the design – Very few vertical pieces are used.

ADD & EDIT VIRTUOSO COMPONENTS

To add a virtuoso component, right click on an empty section of the Design Zone and select Add Virtuoso Comp.

Place the virtuoso component where desired. Note the dimensions on either side to help place or center the component, or move it afterwards. If adding multiple virtuoso components next to each other, they will automatically join together.

Virtuoso components may look and be installed different than the classic component yet adding and adjusting them in ClosetCADPro are very similar to classic systems. They move, center, array, etc. like other components, and materials are selected the same way.

Virtuoso components automatically have a top and bottom shelf, as well as trim on the outside edges.

To adjust the height of the virtuoso component, hover over the top and look for a two-sided arrow. Click, hold and pull the top of the unit to change. Users can also change the height in Component Properties.

To change the width of a virtuoso component, either click and drag the partition, adjust in component properties, or manually change the value on the dimension label. This, again, is consistent with adjusting classic components.

The Panel Width is the overall width while the cabinet width will indicate the width of parts. The Cabinet Width will automatically adjust with changes to the Panel Width.

The dimension above the Virtuoso component refers to the panel width. Parts, such as drawers, will have a smaller width and will be represented by a separate dimension line.

Virtuoso components have component properties that are similar to a classic component, although it’s a lot more consolidated as there are many fields that are not applicable for Virtuoso. Here, users can adjust properties such as heights, depths, widths, finishes.

ADD VIRTUOSO PARTS

To add parts to a virtuoso component, use the part menus in the ribbon toolbar. Users can select an adjustable shelf (scroll for a shelf group), hanging pole, or drawers for example. As with a classic system, left click to add them to a component.

Keep in mind that not all parts are able to be added to Virtuoso components, due to restrictions in the construction and lack of vertical partitions. If a Part isn’t available for Virtuoso systems, it simply will not allow users to add them.

All parts will move, delete, and edit using the same familiar methods. Users may notice that some of the part properties have different or limited options when added to a Virtuoso component compared to what they may see in a Classic component (for example, shelves cannot change type).

SHELVING

Virtuoso essentially has one type of shelf. Virtuoso shelving is adjustable by the client unless they must be stationary due to other parts above/below. Therefore, users can select either Fixed or Adjustable shelves from the pull-down to add and it will achieve the same result.

Shelves will want to align if adding to components next to each other. If they are close but not perfectly aligned, users will see the shelves turn red as a warning.

The warning will disappear once the shelves are perfectly lined up.

Shelves in a line will share brackets. Users do not have to align the shelves, but the program is set to make it easier to ensure they are aligned if that is the intention.

The shelf Properties [Part] will look a bit different versus what is seen in Classic. Since Virtuoso shelving are made from thicker material, that is all users can select for finish options. Users will also notice that the only depth options available are the three standard Virtuoso depths (13.98”, 17.72” and 21.5”).

DRAWERS & DOORS

Users add and edit drawers the same way as with Classic components.

When adding drawers or doors to a component, vertical partitions are automatically added where needed (right). There are required to hold hinges and drawer glides.

Drawers will default to the appropriate depth for the Virtuoso component. If preferring a different depth, change the Interior Depth in the component properties.

In the elevation view, drawers will have dimensions that represent the drawer width, which are smaller than the panel width.

Doors automatically revert to an INT door, regardless of the option initially selected. This means that all door heights will be bound by existing shelves.

If wanting to place shelving behind a set of doors, place the door prior to adding shelves that will sit behind it. Users can add shelves individually or as a shelf group, and they behave much like shelving in a Classic component.
