Suspension Rails & Brackets

Suspension rails are used for mounting components to a wall. CAD automatically places suspension rails and brackets where needed when adding components or templates. Typically, brackets default to the Left side of the component interior (right side of the par). However, if the component has a change in top shelf height, it’s freestanding, or double parred, it will still put brackets wherever needed (for example, on both pars, as shown by the green arrows below).

Rails and brackets are visible in both Elevation and 3D views.

Users with an Engineering key can make additional edits to suspension rails and brackets, such as dictating which side of the par they are mounted to.

If a suspension rail bracket is ever missing, users will see an error message.

Removing Suspension Rails

Sometimes, depending on location, base cabinets (or other components) can be constructed without the standard rail system used by all components. This means users may be able to turn the suspension rail off.

Always ask your manager or plan reviewer for scenarios where this may be necessary. Some locations may always use a suspension rail, regardless of the scenario.

To remove a rail, click on the + next to Suspension Rail in Properties [Component], and uncheck the box next to Rail On to turn it off. If wanting to quickly apply this to the other components, use the apply to properties.

If applying the removal to other components, it is highly recommended to use the Select option versus wall or room as most components do require the rail.
