The Lateral collection is in a piloting phase. It will be available to all users and locations at a future date. As a result, this page is in a constant state of change until full release.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

The Lateral collection allows for designs to be created from a refined selection of parts. These could be designs that are primarily used in secondary spaces but may also fit the needs of a primary closet. This collection allows the flexibility to offer the option of simple or designs, or multi-unit opportunities, at an attractive price point.

While the design would look very similar to any other components that users may use, the Lateral Collection has specific design parameters:

  • Depth: 14”

  • Par lengths: 30”, 49”, 78”

    • Wall-hung only

    • All components in design zone must be same top shelf height (no staggered or stepped top shelf heights)

    • Full-line boring (holes will go to the bottom of the partitions, but exterior pars should still be “none”)

    • Support cleats turn on automatically

  • Comp widths: 18”, 24”, 30”, 36”

    • One “cut to fit” component allowed per design zone

  • Drawers: 18” and 24” comp width, M or L faces only

  • Baskets: 18” and 24” comp width, M L or XL (chrome only)

    Board finish: White, board material

    • Fixed and adjustable shelves only

  • Accessory finishes:

    • Matte Aluminum

      • Fluted poles

      • Elite 5-7/8” handle or Elite round 1-1/8” knob

      • Elite 14” deep scarf/tie/belt/valet rack

      • Elite double hook

    • Chrome Baskets

    • Morning Fog 18x14” or 24x14” microsuede jewelry insert

The Lateral collection does not support floor-based components, doors, backing, top or bottom treatments, etc. and is limited to the items described above.

How to Design

Designing in Lateral is very similar to designing in Classic. Users have the option to add templates <LINK> or start with an empty component. As the Lateral Collection has specific design parameters, CAD will direct the user to design within those rules (mentioned above).

image-20240209-173600.png

For example, when placing an empty component, users can choose from the 3 par lengths available in the collection, but cannot make them floor-based as that is not part of the collection. When editing par lengths (Height) in Component Properties, it reverts to the next closest available.

Once in place, these components place, move and delete like Classic components. Users can also copy or array these components.

Lateral_HoverWidth.gif

To edit the component widths, hover over the dimension at the top of the component so that it turns blue.

Arrows will appear on the dimension line, directing towards the left or right or both, depending on the location of the cursor hovering over it.

This will dictate the direction of the width change, and how it potentially impacts components around it. Double click on the arrows to change the width.

As only certain widths are available in the collection, this allows the user to chose between 18, 24, 30 or 36” widths. Users can also select a width in Component Properties.

image-20240220-161318.png

While most components must be one of our standard widths, one component per design zone can be cut to fit, similar to how auto-fit width works. If components end up overlapping, autofit width will reset them to a custom width to fit.

image-20240209-200120.png

Users should first add all other key components to the design, and at one end, a component added to the gap will automatically revert to a custom width component.

A blue label will appear at the top. If designing in a design zone with a bridging component, this component will automatically assume the custom width label.

There can only be one custom width component per design zone. If adding more than one, users will receive an error to change the components to a standard width.

Parts & Finishes

Parts can be added to components from the ELV ribbon toolbar.

The part selections reflect the options available in the Lateral Collection, so users will not see all parts as they do with Classic.

Otherwise, parts add and edit just as they do in Classic designs.

If trying to place drawers or baskets in non-standard widths (or changing the widths after placing parts), users may receive a “Change to standard width” error.

image-20240209-202813.png

Parts can be edited within the parameters of the collection. For example, drawers can only be M or L, and with one knob and one handle option, so those would be the only options available in properties. Poles only come in one style, so that field has been eliminated. Finishes are not necessary as there is only one option - CAD makes it pretty simple to design!

Users still have the ability to add Text Notes, although the options are limited so unsupported manual parts are not added to the design. Service Fees and Plan notes remain.

Lateral Templates

image-20240219-171252.png

As with other Templates in ClosetCADPro, users have the option to add component templates or design templates while designing in Lateral. Either templates can be used as-is or edited to better suite the needs of the client or the size of the room.

Component templates are located in the ELV ribbon toolbar. Users can also create and save their own Lateral templates for future use.

To add a design template, right click within the empty design zone and select “Add Design Template”. Before left clicking to place, scroll through the options to pick from various layouts that fit within the design zone.

These options will vary depending on the available space.

Users can then edit, add or adjust the individual components to fit the space.
