Save a Project

There are a few methods used to save a Project file. Despite CAD having a backup file, it is recommended to save the project periodically while working on it to ensure nothing gets lost if the computer crashes.

Select the Save icon in the main menu.

When closing out of the program using the X in the upper right.

Use the ’Ctrl’ + ‘S’ buttons on the keyboard.

When saving, regardless of the method, the program will override the previous file, so this popup will appear.

Selecting Yes will ensure the save is applied.
Selecting No will result in the loss of changes that cannot be recovered.
Selecting Cancel will return to the CAD screen and will cancel or “scrap” the save.

If this does not pop up, it’s typically because the user didn’t make any changes that require a save.

Change Default Save Location

Users can change the default save location of their project files under Options in the Main Menu. This can be done without a project open, as it’s easily accessible.

Note that this will NOT move a current, open project but will change the save location of any new projects moving forward.

When the option box pops up, click on the file icon next to the file path to update the save location.

Navigate to the desired file location (an existing folder or create a new one, as the video demonstrates), click to highlight the folder, then click “Select Folder”. The file path can be double checked by highlighting the path and reviewing the information. Click “OK” if done. This location will be remembered for the next project, unless manually changed again.

The default file location can also be changed when creating a new project, in the Customer Details page.

These two methods communicate and will update automatically depending on which method is used.

If you want to change where an existing project is saved, you must close out of the CAD project file and manually move it via windows file explorer.
