Plan & ELV Views

Plan & ELV Views

Both Plan and Elevation views are black and white technical drawings.

Plan views are from the top, showing the entire design footprint.
Elevation views show a single wall. Users can add and edit components and parts in this view.

The Plan view will show important component information such as the width and depth of each (red) and what type of component it is. Plans will also show wall (teal) and obstruction (orange) information.

The Elevation view will contain even more information for the walls (teal), design zones (orange), components (red) and parts.

*Most of these labels are controlled by settings which can be turned on/off in the system. If anything is missing, speak to your local CAD administrator.

PLAN/ELV VIEW NAVIGATION

There are ways to navigate the Plan and Elevations to make the design easier to view/draw. To move the screen in any desired direction, left click on an empty section of a plan or elevation view, hold, and move the cursor in any direction before releasing. This is called the PAN feature.

If users move the curser towards the upper left corner of the viewable area, just below the ribbon toolbar, four magnifying glasses will appear.

Zoom In and
Zoom Out

The first two with the plus (+) and minus (-) are used to zoom in/away from the design. Alternatively, the mouse wheel can be used to scroll in and out.

Zoom Extents

The third one, with the ‘X’ inside, is the Zoom Extents function. It is used to reset the default position so the entire design is centered within the screen.

Zoom to Window

The one with the ‘W’ inside, is a tool that can be used to zoom into a specific area of the design. To use, click on the icon, then left click and drag a box over the desired area.

Adjust the grids on either the Plan and Elevation views by changing the value in the Grid, found in the Options area of the main menu (red 3D icon in upper left-hand corner).
