The Everyday System™ is a collection of customizable modular components that can be installed either by California Closets or by the customer.

Starting with a new project or design, go through the steps to create a new space. In the Setup Wizard, make sure to select “Everyday” from the Collection drop down.

Fill out the rest of the fields to match the space and select either Manual or Start Design to continue. Adjust the walls, etc. as needed.

Selecting this collection will only allow users to design with EDS components. The program does not allow users to mix EDS components with other collections or Classic components.

Users can also change the “Collection” for a design that was initially set up as either a Classic (none) or other Collection by editing the Space Properties. Right click on either the design tab or the space in Job Manager and selecting Edit. Select the desired option in the Collection dropdown.

Doing this will delete all components out of the current design or space, so be sure to copy the space (by right clicking on the design tab or space in the Job Manager) first if wanting to preserve the design.

The Install Type in Space Properties is also where users can select if the design will be installed by our company or by the client.

The design zone is already set at the appropriate height for The Everyday System™ (87.25”) and the height cannot be changed.

EDS components come in two depths: 14” and 20” deep. The design zone depth is what determines the depth of the system as components automatically adjust to the depth. They can be changed per component in properties if needed (see below).

The quickest and easiest way to add The Everyday System™ components is by using pre-made templates. Both component templates and design templates are available for this collection and are added the same way as Classic components (click on either to link to full details).

Add individual component templates as desired, or edit the type of components within a design template by selecting individual components from the template library in the toolbar. The type of components will vary based on the template library folder as they are organized by space type (closet, media, office, pantry, etc.).

ADD & EDIT COMPONENTS

Design a component from scratch by right-clicking on the design zone and selecting Add Empty Comp.
Users can copy, move, delete and center components just as with a Classic system, and will see all the options in the component right-click menu.

If adding a component to a space between an existing component and a wall it automatically reverts to a “Fill the Gap” component. As the name suggests, it is meant to fill that empty space, although the side against the wall will not have an upright or partition. Instead, shelves and poles are mounted to brackets that are installed on the wall (this can be edited in Properties [Component], see below).

There are minimum and maximums for a “Fill the Gap” component, so if the component is wider than 30” there will not be the option to fill. This may require you to reposition or resize if the component is too wide.

If the warning seen below appears while adjusting or moving components, click and drag the edge of a “Fill the Gap” component to fit up against the wall, or move it as needed.

The Everyday System™ components are available in three standard widths: 16”, 24” and 30” (see Standard Product Guide for exact dimensions and specifications). There is also a 48” section for use in media and office systems.

To resize components, simply hover over the dimension at the top towards the desired resize direction (left/right). If the cursor is above the line, it will resize outward; If the cursor is below, it will resize inward.

Once the arrow turns red, click on it to immediately resize. The component will resize to the next standard width, either smaller or larger.

This can be more easily controlled with fewer components versus a full wall, as when resizing a component, it will either pull or push the other components to accommodate (components that will be affected turn green when hovering over the dimension before changing).

There are limited options in the Properties [Component] box. This is where the user can adjust the depth, add gap fillers, and adjust options for saving templates.

If changing the depth of a component after it’s in place, users may receive a warning if the components share a partition.

If changing an existing component to a “Fill the Gap” component or vice versa, do so in Properties [Component] by clicking the appropriate box to turn it on and off.

Fill Gap Upright means rather than adding brackets to attach shelves and poles directly to wall, it adds an The Everyday System™ upright. This looks similar to a regular The Everyday System™ component but it allows them to be custom widths to fit.

WITHOUT UPRIGHT

WITH UPRIGHT

With filler components, there are limitations as to what can be placed in these custom-width sections. See the Standard Product Guide or talk to your plan reviewer for more information.

ADD PARTS

To add parts manually, use the curated options from the ribbon toolbar. The part options are (mostly) limited to those available in the The Everyday System™ collection. The program will not allow the user to add a part that is unavailable.

Users can add poles and shelves (there is only one type, so it will default to an The Everyday System™ shelf regardless of selection), drawers (under Cabinets) and doors, and slanted shoe shelves. To add a part, select one of the options in the categorized drop down and place the part into a component.

Adjust the parts using any of the same methods used with a Classic system.

To change materials for a design, use the Materials tab and adjust the appropriate options in the ribbon toolbar.

The 3D view is a great way to double check that the design looks proper and is in the desired finish. Use the 3D Objects tab to add items to make the design appear more realistic.
