Auto-Partition Feature

The Auto Partitions feature is found to the right of Components (templates) in the ELV ribbon toolbar. This feature will come into play when adding or copying components, and when changing depth of components with certain parts.

If Auto Partitions is enabled/checked while adding a new or copied component, the newer component will automatically share a partition with an existing component if placed up against it (before left clicking to place).

If Auto Partitions is disabled/unchecked, any new component that is added/copied will not share a partition with an existing component if placed up next to it. This will result in a double partition.

Depending on the design, double partitions may be required (for example, if there are full-overlay fronts, or a change in depth with specific parts), so it is helpful to consider this while initially placing components versus changing later after you’ve already designed.

Users can manually add or remove partitions in Component Properties, under the Construction heading, by checking/unchecking next to Left or Right Partition (a checked box to the right of a field always means it is turned on). Adding or removing partitions will change the overall width of that component as it compensates for the width of the new/removed partition.

Users will get a missing partition warning if a component is missing a required partition. The same warning will appear if moving a component away from another when a partition is being shared.
