Design Templates

Design templates may not be available to all users.

 

Design templates are entire pre-designed walls of two or more components that are available in a variety of orientations and widths. They are meant to simplify and accelerate the design process. They help deliver designs and pricing to the customer efficiently and accurately, and can help designers in training understand efficient layouts.

The template options are dictated by the current template library. For example, start by selecting the Closet - Reach In template library in the ELV ribbon toolbar.

Design templates are added in elevation view via right click menu. Right click on an empty design zone and select Add Design Template. Before placement, scroll the mouse wheel (or up/down keyboard keys) to view additional layout options that will also fit in the available space. If available, the program will also offer templates that are smaller, and slightly larger, than the design zone as they can be fit to the space.

Left click to place the design template. Design templates can be centered or placed to one side.

The program will assess the size of the available design zone and recommend a template that closely fits the available space.

You may see a “No templates available for this size” warning if the design zone is too short or too tall, or if it is not wide enough. You will also see this warning if an appropriate template library is not selected. Right now, there are only design templates for Reach-Ins, but they can be used for any space!

  • Design zone heights: Between 80-96”

  • For 2 component templates = 38” wide min.

  • For 3 component templates = 62” wide min.

  • For 4 component templates = 87” wide min.

  • For 5 component templates = 112” wide min.


Users can move, center, resize or autofit one or more components in the template as-needed.


Generally, design template components are 14” deep and 24” wide with an ~87” standard top shelf height. The components can be manipulated by changing the height, depth, width, width, mounting type, and parts within the component, as with any other components. Users can even switch components by placing templates over existing components.
