Viewports & Viewpoints

Viewports and Viewpoints are two methods to create snapshots of certain design aspects. They are used in Customer Drawings and when sharing plans with customers via e-mail. Viewports are captured in the Plan and Elevation views while Viewpoints are captured in the 3D view.

VIEWPORTS

Viewports are 2D snapshots captured in the Elevation or Plan views. Select Add 2D Viewport from the Tools section of the Plan or Elevation ribbon toolbars. Click, hold and drag the cursor to create a box over the components or parts to be highlighted.

Release to complete the viewport. This will create a cropped section of the design zone with code VP_#.

Resize a viewport by clicking, holding and dragging the nodes around the outside. To move a viewport, click once and move to a new location. To delete, use the right click menu. Delete All will delete all viewports in a design.

The program automatically switches to Viewport view mode when adding a viewport. This allows users to add, edit and delete them. Viewports will “disappear” when in standard or other view modes.

Viewports populate in the Images tab. They are used to populate a customer drawing or to e-mail to a customer.

Viewpoints

Viewpoints are 3D snapshots captured in the 3D viewer. To create them, use the various navigation tools to center the desired view while in the 3D tab. Once centered, click Save Viewport from the Snap Shot section of the ribbon toolbar.

The program may load for a moment, but there won’t be pop up or signal that the snap shot was taken, it just automatically loads in the Snap Shots list (used to jump to a pre-saved view in 3D) and in the Images tab.

These snap shots can be used to populate a customer drawing or to share with a customer.

To delete a custom viewpoint that has been created, select the viewpoint in the Snap Shots list on the Ribbon Toolbar, and click the Delete Viewpoint button.
