Installation Steps

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times when handling material and operating the power tools mentioned throughout this process. Review the PPE Matrix for further guidance.

  1. Ensure there is a wood backer on the panel.

If there is no wood backer, this indicates the glass will be placed directly on the wall.

  1. If Applicable: Ensure the component’s shelves are cut back enough to allow for the wood and glass backing combination.

  • The cut-back shelves will have a shorter depth than other shelves in the component and system.

  • If the shelves are not cut back, a table saw will be required to cut the shelf to the correct depth.

  1. Dry-fit the glass backing to ensure it is going to fit into the space it is designated to go.

  2. Place VHB tape on the entire perimeter of the panel and place it in position.

  3. If there are no shelves in front of the panel or the panel is being placed directly on the wall: Adhere the panel using liquid nails or mirror mastic.

  • Mirror mastic is only to be used if the panel is a mirror.

    • Mastic is an adhesive that does not bleed through any backing.

  • Liquid Nails is to be used for all other specialty panels.

  • Make circles on the glass as it will create small suction cups and hold the glass in place until the adhesion dries.

  • Place the panel into the system or on the wall.

  1. Remove any visible VHB tape and wipe away any visible mastic with a rag.

  2. Complete the installation, touch ups, and cleaning of the jobsite.
