Sprinkler Obstruction

Users can add a Fire Suppression Sprinkler to a space if there is one in the room. It is a realistic representation of the obstruction. The sprinkler is found in the Obstructions drop down menu in ELV view.

Any design involving a sprinkler should be “okayed” by Plan Review.

When adding to a wall (for wall-mounted sprinklers), it will automatically snap to it. Otherwise it can be placed anywhere in the room (for ceiling-mounted sprinklers). If mounted to the ceiling, a dimension line will appear to show the position to the closest wall.

To move the sprinkler, hover over the sprinkler until it outlines in blue and double left click. Move to the new location and single left click. Users can also double click on the dimension between the sprinkler and the wall to edit the spacing. The right click menu will also show options to move or delete the sprinkler.

The Plan, Elevation and 3D views will all have a clearance outline around the sprinkler that dictates it’s required space, or where users cannot build around the sprinkler. This is designated by building code.

See the Designer Reference Guide for more information as there are some exceptions, where components can be placed into the clearance. Remember to always ensure the design is ok with your Plan Reviewer before finalizing.

Sprinklers can also be edited in ELV view. While they come in at a standard size, the dimensions and position can be edited in the Sprinkler Properties.

Lock Position will prevent the ability to double click and move the obstruction in Plan or ELV.

Lock to Wall will “lock” the sprinkler to the wall it is currently “anchored” to, so when moving it close to another wall it does not switch to that wall being it's anchor point.

The Wall Offset is how far the sprinkler sits from the nearest wall (if not mounted to the wall).

The Left/Right fields is the distance from the side walls.

Bottom dictates the height of the sprinkler off the floor.
