The purpose of this page is to outline the process of installing a safe. Prior to completing this process, ensure you have completed the installation of the component the safe will be in.

Installation Steps

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times when handling material and operating the power tools mentioned throughout this process. Review the PPE Matrix for further guidance.

  1. Confirm the location of the safe on the elevation.

  • The elevation will contain an image of a safe.

  • Ensure there is no obstruction in the way of the safe’s location.

    • If there is, contact your manager or the design consultant before moving forward.

 

 

  1. Unpack the safe from the box and remove all contents.

  • Ensure you have the power cord and any applicable components (shelf, carpet, etc.)

  1. Confirm if there is a wall outlet in the vicinity of the safe’s location.

  • If there is not, follow the power solutions process to plan access holes and cable management.

  1. Mount the supplied angle brackets under the shelf the safe will sit on.

  • Screw the brackets to the partition and the shelf.

  • These will provide extra support for the weight of the safe.

  • For shelves up to 16” in depth, place a bracket in the front and back of each side of the shelf (4 in total)

  • For shelves above 16” in depth, place a bracket in the front, middle, and back of each side of the shelf (6 in total)

  1. Place the safe on the shelf and push it against the wall.

  • Plug in the power cord as you push the safe back.

  • Center the safe on the shelf unless otherwise indicated on the elevation.

  1. Secure the safe to the wall and component.

  1. Complete the setup of the safe.

  1. Complete the remainder of the installation.

  2. Complete the final walkthrough with the customer and demonstrate the safe.

Final Steps & Delivery

  1. Inspect the installation and complete any touch ups if necessary.

  2. If there are no more components to install, remove all stickers/labels.

  3. If there are no more components to install, complete the clean up process.

  4. If there are no more components to install, complete the Professional Installation Experience by walking through the space with the customer and delivering the final product.

Certification Steps:

  1. The safe is in the correct location according to the elevation.

  2. The correct amount of support brackets are mounted below the safe’s shelf.

  3. The safe is secured to the wall and shelf below.

  4. The safe has been demonstrated during the final walkthrough with the customer.
