Installation Steps

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times when handling material and operating the power tools mentioned throughout this process. Review the PPE Matrix for further guidance.

Standard Lock

  1. Determine if the door or drawer needs to be drilled for the lock.

  • Once the drawer/door is in place, make markings for drilling the lock. Take into consideration:

    • Does the lock strike fit into any slots that have been routed?

    • Does the lock fit into any hardware that has been mounted on the back of any multi-door section?

    • Will the lock interfere with anything (shelf, accessory, handle, etc.)?

    • If the lock is on a single cabinet, does the rotation of the lock need to go in a certain direction?

    • Do you have any elbow catches going in multi-door sections?

  1. If Applicable: Drill out the holes to install the lock.

  2. Install the lock.

  • Pay attention to the way the lock strike turns in order to mount the lock base correctly.

  • Mount any applicable hardware on the adjacent door.

  • Install any applicable elbow catches.

    • Mount one half to the door and the other half must be mounted to a fixed shelf.

  • Refer to the elevation and determine if any locks are to share the same key.

    • This will determine if the correct locks are in the correct location.

  1. Ensure functionality of the lock.

  • Close all doors and drawers.

  • Using the provided key, lock and unlock each lock.

    • Repeat this process once or twice.

  • If adjustments are needed for fit, use a pair of pliers and bend the lock strike gently so it fits in the slot.

  1. Complete the final walkthrough with the customer and demonstrate the lock and provide the key to the customer.

Stealth Lock

  1. Unpackage the lock.

  • Make sure the red plastic guide is attached to the lock body.

  • The small piece (lock hook) that connects to the drawer face should be connected to the red plastic guide as well.

  • Ensure you have at least 1 remote. You cannot install the lock if you do not have a remote.

    • Contact your manager if you do not have the remote.

  1. Remove the drawer to ensure an open work space.

  2. Find the center of the fixed shelf that is above the drawer and make a small pencil mark.

  3. Hold the lock assembly up to the bottom of the shelf and line up the mark with the center line that is on the lock.

  • Press it as far into the cabinet as you can.

  • The red plastic piece will stop you from pushing in too far.

  1. Using the provided screws, secure the lock in place.

  2. Re-install the drawer removed during step 2.

  3. Peel the adhesive backer off of the piece connecting to the drawer.

  4. Close the drawer and give an extra push on the face where the lock hook connects to it.

  5. Open the drawer. The lock hook should be stuck to the inside of the drawer face. Secure the lock hook.

  1. With the drawer still open, remove the red plastic piece and discard it.

  2. Reach into the drawer and remove the battery cover off of the lock and insert the batteries. Place the battery cover on the lock.

  3. Ensure the lock functions.

  1. Complete the final walkthrough with the customer and demonstrate the lock and its electronic requirements.

Tips from the Field
Tips submitted by fellow installers and leaders in the field. These optional tips are intended to make this install process simpler.

  • Clamp a piece of scrap material to the back of the door/drawer when drilling for the lock. This will help prevent chipping on the backside of the material.
