Upright Shelves

Upright shelves, also known as vertical dividers or vertical shelves, are useful in many applications. They are often used in pantries for baking sheets or platters, and in closets to give custom divided spaces for storage.

They are added using Upright under Shelf & Pole in the ribbon toolbar. Click to select the upright, then left click inside a component to place it.

If the Center Tol Snap settings are set above 0, the upright will automatically “snap” to the middle of the open space when the cursor is close to center. The user can also manually type in a new offset after left clicking to place.

Uprights require fixed shelves above and below - The program will not allow the user to add to adjustable shelves. Fixed shelves can be individual or part of a multi-shelf group (if added to a multi-shelf group, an upright will split the group).

Once placed, double click on an upright to move it, or right click on the upright and select Move from the menu options. It will still adjust and snap to even spacing (1/2s) automatically (if your snap spacing is set to a value above 0). Upright shelves delete the same way as other parts.

Adjust the height of an upright by moving the fixed shelf (above or below the upright) using the + and - buttons. The upright will automatically adjust. It will also automatically adjust height when moving the upright into a different shelf spacing or component.

This will not work if the upright in placed within a multi-shelf group; Explode the shelf group first.

If placing an upright on a bottom shelf, a support foot may automatically appear underneath it. This will be hidden behind the toe kick but it provides additional support for the weight of the upright.

Once an upright is placed, it can be used to create cubbies by adding additional shelving, or can be used to split components for smaller doors.

UPRIGHT SHELF PROPERTIES

Once the upright is placed, use Properties [Part] to adjust fields such as the finish, depth, bracket side (if the upright attaches to a support rail), and drilling.

Uprights can be set at different depths than surrounding shelves by adjusting the Depth or Offset Front/Back fields (for example, if running cords or purely for aesthetic reasons). This can be visually checked in the 3D view.

CAD automatically adds a bracket if the upright overlaps the suspension rail (much like a partition). This can be adjusted or removed as needed.

Ask your manager or plan reviewer for more information on bracket requirements for uprights.
