Press-In Panels & Plant On Panels

Press-In Panels & Plant On Panels

Press-In and Plant-On panels are ways to add structural backing or decorative elements to a component or design.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Press-In-Panels

The Press-In Panel (“PIP”) is found in the Panels parts dropdown. The PIP can be used to add a structural panel to any part of a design, and it will automatically fill the space it is placed into.

The PIP tool is similar to Press-In Backing (PIB), but instead of backing an entire component, they automatically fills the available space between components or parts (much like the applied panel tool). This means, unlike Press-in-Backing, they can be applied inside or outside of a component (for uses between lowers and upper components, for example).

Press-In Panels are considered structural. They are TFL panels that are secured with Rafix TAB fittings.

To add a PIP, select the option from Parts in the ELV ribbon toolbar. Hover over the desired location in or around a component, and left click to place when in position. As mentioned, it will automatically adjust to fit inside of a boundary created by components, fixed shelves, upright shelves, partitions, or other parts.

If placing a panel into a multi-shelf group of fixed shelves, the shelves must first be exploded.

Users will receive an error if adding a back panel over a suspension rail. There are a few ways you can bypass this issue, either by changing the back offset (see below), by adding a faceplate, or by discussing a solution with your design manager or plan viewer.

Double click to move the panel. It will automatically adjust if put into a space that is of a different size. Panels delete like other parts.

PIP Properties

In the Properties of the Press-In Panel, users can select the Finish (TFL board material only). Rotate Grain can be turned on if wanting to change the direction of the board - The default is horizontal.

Users will also see the ability to add a Plant on Panel.

Plant On Panels

If enabled (checked on), the Plant on Panel (POP) function can be used to create pops of color within a component that will stand out against the rest of the backing, or to highlight a specific focal point. It can also be used to add mirrors or other materials to or between components.

This is similar to the Panel (applied panel) tool, except it provides a proper and secure method of installation.

POPs are added by checking the box in the Press-In Panel (PIP) Properties. Users can select the Panel Material once enabled. The user may see a variety of options including coordinated board material, EcoResin, glass, mirrors, and more.

Once added, a label will appear on the PIP with “POP” and the material finish.
