Cleat Board with Hooks

  1. While the installer is occupied, remove the hooks from the staging area.

  2. Once the installer understands there are no hooks to install on the cleat board, prompt the installer by asking what they should do, and what could have been done to prevent this.

Acceptable options:

  1. The installer explains that during the quality check of materials, they would realize the hooks are missing, and would need to call the shop/warehouse right away to have hooks delivered.

  2. The installer explains they would have realized the hooks were missing prior to departing for the job and located them in the shop/warehouse to bring with them.

Jr. Apprentice

Connecting Shelves

Once the installer has completed installing the connecting shelf, propose the following problem to them:

If, during the installation, you discovered the accompanying shelf was cut too short, what would you do?

The installer explains they would use an adjustable shelf from the system to complete the connecting shelf. They would then need to call the shop/warehouse as soon as possible for a same-day replacement of the adjustable shelf.

Jr. Apprentice

Fixed Shelves

While the installer is occupied, select a fixed shelf from the staging area and move two cams to the closed position.

  1. The installer follows the installation process and inspects the shelf and cams prior to installation.

  2. The installer proceeds to open the cams and install the shelf successful.

If the installer places the shelf without confirming the cams are open, this is considered an unsuccessful attempt. See Fixed Shelf Certification Steps.

Hanging Pole

Once the installer has completed installing the hanging pole, propose the following problem to them:

If, during the installation, you discovered the pole was too short or too long, what would you do?

Acceptable options:

  1. The installer explains if the pole was too short, they would source extra material from the van and cut to size.

  2. The installer explains if the pole was too long, they would need to cut it to size.

Hanging System Rail

While the installer is occupied, switch a piece of rail with a piece that is too short or too long.

Acceptable options:

  1. The installer recognizes the rail piece is too short and explains they would source and cut rail from the van.

  2. The installer recognizes the rail piece is too long and explains they would need to cut the rail.

While the installer is occupied, use a pozi #2 screwdriver and adjust all suspension brackets beyond their factory adjustments.

The installer accurately adjusts all suspension brackets to ensure the system is level and plumb according to the wall and high point of the room.

Jr. Apprentice

Prepping Partitions (Standard Suspension)

Once the installer has completed prepping the partitions, propose the following problem to them:

If, while prepping the partitions, you noticed one of the partitions was missing the suspension bracket screw holes, what would you do?

The installer explains they would place a thru-bore partition on top to use as a drilling template and would need to mark and hand-drill the suspension bracket holes.

Jr. Apprentice

Single Drawer Stacks

While the installer is occupied, manually adjust several drawer clips beyond their factory adjustments.

The installer accurately adjusts all drawer clips to ensure all drawers in the stack are in height/depth/side-to-side alignment.

Jr. Apprentice

Sliding Wire Baskets

Once the installer has completed installing the wire basket, propose the following problem to them:

If, during the installation, you discover the runners for the basket are missing, what would you do?

Acceptable options:

  1. The installer explains they would need to call the shop/warehouse to request a same-day replacement set of runners.

  2. The installer explains they would have realized the runners were missing prior to departing for the job and located them in the shop/warehouse to bring with them.

Jr. Apprentice

Staging Materials

While the installer is occupied, select a partition or shelf and move it out of the room.

Acceptable options:

  1. The installer explains they will call the shop/warehouse for a same-day replacement part to complete the system.

  2. The installer explains they would have realized the part was missing when loading the van, prior to departing for the job.
