Installation Steps

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times when handling material and operating the power tools mentioned throughout this process. Review the PPE Matrix for further guidance.

  1. Locate hinges and hinge mounting plates; there should be equal numbers of each. Ensure you have the correct hinges for the overlay indicated on the elevation.

  1. Mount the plates on the partitions using the included screws in the location that corresponds with the hinge placement holes on the door.

  • If the partitions have not been pre-drilled, refer to the elevation for the plate placement and use a Hinge Jig to pre-drill the plate holes.

    • If drilling for inset doors, add an addition 13/16” to the placement of the front hole.

  • If screws are not included, mount the plates using 9mm Euro Screws.

  • Refer to the Hinge Reference Guide for hinge and overlay specifications

If using metal doors, attach the hinge following manufacturer guidelines.

  1. Mount the hinges on the doors.

For Element Aluminum frame doors, ensure you are including the decorative cups when mounting the hinges on the doors.

  1. Install the door.

  • Start with the top most hinge, or the furthest left if installing flip-up doors

  • Place the front bar on the hinge against the “hook” on the mounting plate. The hinge should be centered on the mounting plate.

  • Push the door toward the hinge plate while pushing the back of the hinge into the hinge plate until it snaps closed.

  • If installing inset doors, place a piece of blue tape on the inside of the door face to create a pull tab as a temporary handle.

  1. Flip-Up Doors Only: Install Lid Stay hardware

  • Mount the partition mounting piece to the pre-drill holes of the partition using the included screws. This is the flat piece.

  • Mount the door face mounting piece to the pre-drilled holes on the door using the included screws. This is the piece with the 90-degree angle.

  • Once the door is mounted on the hinges, attach the lid stay arm to the lid stay hardware.

  • When the lid stay arms is closed, the large circle should be pointed to the back of the component.

  • Each side of the arm has an embossed arrow on the end; this arrow should align with the 90-degree angle of the plastic piece on the hardware.

    • The lid stay arm will snap into place once the arrow is aligned.

  1. Adjust the hinges so the door is in-line with adjacent doors and drawers.

  1. Install handle or knob. Refer to the decorative hardware guide for hardware specifications.

  1. Test functionality.
